A note from our Delegate

Hey everybody . . . wanted to let you know that the "on line contributions to GSO" thing is up and running today on aa.org. I tried it and was successful. It walks you through the process pretty easily, but you will have to sign up and make a "profile". It even put my group number in when I put in the city and state . . . very cool!  go to aa.org and you will see it right on the front page.  Spread the word!

Our Statement of Purpose

This is the "Official" Alcoholics Anonymous Delegate Area 26 Website established for the purpose of assisting the AA groups of Area 26 in carrying the AA message, primarily by publishing Area 26 news of interest, as well as the meeting schedules of the AA groups in Area 26. It is our goal to help the still-suffering alcoholic establish direct, face to face, contact with Alcoholics Anonymous.

As an Area 26 Website Committee communication vehicle this website is in line with the April 1997 General Service Conference Public Information Committee action making it official that AA now includes "Electronic Media" as yet another method of carrying the AA message

Area 26 may also publish additional information, such as Area 26 Delegate, Officer and Standing Committee reports, listings of Intergroup Central Offices, announcements of conferences, conventions and other AA events of interest in our region, and any other information that may be deemed useful by the members of the Area 26 Assembly and its Public Information Committee. .

The Area 26 website will always take special precautions be vigilant about protecting the spirit of our AA Traditions, and shall not affiliate or link our site to any non-AA related entity. Furthermore, this site is provided solely as a general service vehicle for public information. As a service committee we simply pass along publicly available information concerning Alcoholics Anonymous within the geographic bounds of Area 26.

ANONYMITY

The Area 26 Website will be diligent about protecting the anonymity of all AA members. No last names of AA members will be used on this website, including email addresses with last names.

A Website is a public communications vehicle not unlike "Press, Radio, TV, and Films". Carrying our AA message on a Web site is within our traditions as long as last names or facial pictures are not posted.

Personal email between members and/or non-members is no different than using Postal Mail or the telephone. Disclosing AA membership in this way does not compromise our tradition of maintaining anonymity at the public level.
